GENERATIONAL GAP workshop at UMYUK (Uganda Muslim Youth UK)

ITVYP discussion at the GENERATIONAL GAP workshop

The generational gap workshop was an interesting and mind provoking event. It explored the gaps between generations, General X, Millenial and Gen Z. The youth talked about their own challenges and the need for their parents to understand them.

Aisha, ITVYP director, discussed how different generations influence parenting and the need to strike a balance. She went on to discuss the various parenting styles (controlling, over protective, permissive, assertiveness) and the need for parents to reflect on their parenting style, and the impact it could have on raising a child.

Aisha emphasized the need to maintain family values whilst also embracing new values where possible.

The event took place on 19th April 2025 (EAMCG) East African Muslim Community Group – Centre.
